It’s the End of the School Year – Papers Everywhere

Today is a bittersweet day for me, and I’m sad.  My oldest, J, has his last day of Kindergarten.  I just dropped him off for the 1st day and we are at the last day.  I really don’t know how I got here.  It all goes so fast.

I’m going to undertake the project of going through my big box of papers that came home with him every week, and do some major weeding out.

My suggestion to you is to do the same before you forget.  I know I have a tendency to say I’ll do it later, only never to actually do it.  Well, tomorrow bright and early J and I will sit down with a trash bag and decide what to keep and what to toss.  Remember that although it’s all very precious you don’t need to keep it all.  It’s only the best projects and papers that should be kept.

    3. Dropping by from 31dbbb! This post has reminded me that I have 2 bursting at the seams school bags in my closet, which I need to get my DD 10 and DS 9 to sort through! I did have a quick look through them a month ago but that was only because the previous year we discovered what happens to banana peel when left in a lunchbox for 2 months!

I have to admit I haven’t done it as much as I need to, but it does help to just get it out of the way ASAP.

TIMELY! Next week is the very first day of the very first year of preschool for Bear. I take pride in being on top of everything in the household but I must admit that I am terrified — not for him, but me! I think I will try a weed-as-we-go on the paperwork but I just know I am going to forget some important thing that needs to be done for him. Just the “getting enrolled” paperwork feels like college application time all over again (for myself — I don’t have a child at that stage yet). Too, too much to keep track of. Sigh.

Did you see my posts about what boxes to get? I would highly recommend getting a box for it all so that whatever you forget to weed out is actually not visible. Check them out under Reviews. I have 1 going into 1st grade and 1 going into Pre-K, it’s daunting I know.
