What does a GNO do for you? Way back in college and for a few years after college I would go out with my girlfriends on a regular basis. I took it for granted. I admit that whole heartedly.
Who knew then how hard it would be to get out of the house having had children? The arrangements that need to made is like a super secret mission that requires Navy Seals to strategize and put into place.
Every woman needs “me” time though. My GNO is the best me time I can think of. I feel in so many ways I get to be the me I was before kids. Sure they influence the new me, but hermit crab me is coming out to play.
Friday night I was lucky enough to go out with some great local bloggers. It was such a great time that when I looked at my watch assuming it was 7:30 PM I was shocked to see it was 9:30 PM. Where had the time gone? We laughed we compared mommy notes, we talked about the upcoming BlogHer conference in New York. We just gabbed. Yes, there was alcohol and great food too. My side hurt so bad when I left from all of the laughing. Best moment though was when we all told stories about what our children have said about our private parts. I don’t want to get x-rated, but there was a lot of talk about children’s perceptions of the penis and vagina (yes I said those words so please get over it).
Before I go out, I go into antisocial Candice who doesn’t want to go, and only wants to be at home holed up with my computer. I even come up with excuses to use so that I have not only convinced myself I don’t need to go, but can also work for the people I have to tell I’m bailing. Some would call that a flake, I call it antisocial.
After I’m there for 10 minutes I forget everything else and have a good time. It’s weird that every single time I don’t want to go before hand, but have a magnificent time after I’m there. Like I said I have huge antisocial tendencies.
If you are a mom take it from me a GNO is food for you soul. It rejuvinates you in ways you cannot imagine. It’s a way of organizing your psyche.

Your evening out sounds fantastic! Meeting fellow bloggers… that’s just cool! I would LOVE to do that
