Question: What Room Do You Need The Biggest Improvement?

Image via Wikipedia

I have to admit that my office/laundry room is a sty.  I’m thankful that I have a door to shut it out.  Lately though it’s been driving me crazy, which is the cycle of my organization.  First I ignore, then I let it bother me for a while and then I get into a mad frenzy of organizing.  I’m on step 2 heading closer to step 3.  I have been on step 1 for about 8 months, so it’s time to come to the reality that it won’t get better.  I promise to post pictures of before and after when I do get to step 3.

My question to you though: What’s your I-can’t-stand-to-look-at-it-room/space?  Do you continue to let it get bad or will you eventually tackle it?  Are you like me and close the door on it, or is it in the wide open?

Yep, that’s my house. Okay not my whole house, but right now the playroom and the walk in closet we use for storage need some organization love.

But I def work the same as you. I keep letting it and letting it go until I cannot stand it any longer! Then I attack it with a vengeance!

Honestly, I’m glad I’m not alone in my 3-step process. Thanks for answering my question I was worried that everyone out there has the perfectly put together house.

    3. Oh my… Too much to mention here. My living room is a disaster right now. It is the catch all for all of life’s activities these days. So I guess it is the worst, but the worst of the worst.

Ugh in my old place our living room was the exact same way b/c we did not have a playroom, so not only was it our family room, it was also our toy storage. I feel you.

master bedroom. ugh. every other room is fairly organized, but when the days mail, purchases from errands, and children’s artwork/classwork from the day begins to pile on our dining table, I have to move it so I can serve dinner. So I quickly haul the days’ goodies into our master bedroom and plop them on our bed saying to myself ‘i’ll put it all away after dinner’. This never happens and I always end up with a huge pile at the end of each week.

      Mary,
I feel the same way our dining room break front is the end result of art project etc. b/c when we need to have dinner that’s where they go. Luckily I go through it once a week or I would be drowning in paperwork.

    6. Ha – right now it’s everywhere as we adjust to living in a smaller house. It’s usually my office, but since I am supposed to have my office in the basement and instead I have taken over the dining room table, it’s my table.

I am slowly working towards a system that works. Very. Slowly. :)

      Gayle,
I’m a close the door on it too. No worries there. Now the room is so hot I cannot go in there and clear it out b/c I refuse to sweat. You can use that for your garage situation. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Honestly, I would love to tackle my entire house. We recently got an apartment down town so that we can stay there part time for my husbands work. But it has really caused me to think about all of the crap we have and why we have it. So this week I am purging a lot of stuff and really going down to the basics: clothing, coffee press, and laptops. That is all I need!! lol. Having a garage sale on saturday as well with some local mommies. so that is motivating me to get it done.

Great blog! I love your social icons!! So cute.

For me, it’s my kitchen, and it’s in the wide open. I love love love to cook, but the more I cook, the messier it gets, and there’s very little storage or counter space. Bleah.

Well I do not cook and my husband who does leaves the kitchen an absolute mess. No matter how many times I tell him that’s his domain to keep it clean, I wind up cleaning it. You are not alone most of the time ours is in a dissaray.

James does much more kitchen cleaning than I do, but it’s hard to keep up when I’m cooking two or three meals a day in there. And it’s the kid’s job to put away dishes, which she usually remembers to do because it’s easy, but it means the cabinets are pretty messy because she’s lazy and just puts things almost anywhere, and not neatly.

You would crack up on how my husband unloads the dishwasher. He puts the stuff that goes in the lower cabinets on the counter above that cabinet. Like at some point he’ll put them in the cabinet. I don’t understand that mentality but I wind up just putting it away. It’s funny to see clean dishes on top of the cabinets. Makes no sense.

    11. Laundry room, oldest daughter’s bedroom, and laundry room. I’m inbetween steps 2 and 3 also. I’ll wait until the weather cools off before I get into a mad cleaning spree!

I knew I loved you, I feel the same way. Just wait for better weather. In all seriousness my laundry room/office is the only non-insulated non-air conditioned part of the house, so this time of year is brutal in there, so I have a good reason to wait.

I’m a new follower buzzing by to say “hi”. I’m trying to tackle each and every room so right now I’m pretty satisfied with all of them. We’re about to paint our laundry room and I’m sure that will be a big help to that tiny room.
