Dear Fashionista: Need New Day Wear – Fashion Friday

Dear Candice,
I’d love to have you help me for every day. Since I’ve gained a little weight, I don’t have a clue on what to wear.
Connie of Brain Foggles (@ConnieFoggles)

I asked Connie some basic questions and got that she’s more of a square shaped frame, and doesn’t want to wear any kind of heel. Her biggest no-no is that she doesn’t like to have her upper arm exposed.

Since your shape has a straight line almost all of the way down, you need to create curve. Creating an hourglass figure is quite easy once you know the basic rules. First of all, try to stick with straight leg pants/jeans. Anything else will only create  a triangle on your bottom half. You want to keep your hourglass so that the middle area is where you angle in.

As for tops look for something that has either side darts again to bring the angle in, in the middle, or is what is described as an empire waist.  If you want to wear leggings wear an empire waisted tunic which again will bring the curve in the middle giving you the hourglass figure. Here are some looks that will better explain and identify the types of clothing that will work best for your figure.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I want to start with jeans because I know that is what we all struggle with the most. I am going to add some tops and shoes to the examples of jeans, so you can see the affect we are going for in your day look.

Tommy Hilfiger, Style&co., G by Guess, RockportShopStyle

Since it’s summer I like to wear cropped and capri style pants. These really can be a variety of styles. I would stear clear of skinny or tapered leg.

Delia's, Alloy, Rampage, Forever 21, River IslandShopStyle

I really love the look of dresses even when running around. Plus they are so cool in the summer.

Thank you Connie for contacting me, and I hope this helps you revamp your day look.
