Bright and Flirty: Spring Cocktail Attire

Hello Fasionistas! I wanted to introduce my newest contributor Lauren, who is a lover of all good design. She’s  a young hip fashionable woman who loves to shop. Who could ask for more right? I’m really excited to have her 20-something point of view here on Fashionably Organized. Please join me in welcoming Lauren!

Recently I made the decision to dive into the creative and exciting world of event coordination via an internship with one of LA’s premiere boutique wedding planners.  In addition to serving as a creative outlet while I research color schemes, floral arrangements and designer wedding fashion, a major part of the job is networking at various industry parties and vendor shows where the dress code is “cocktail attire.”  With so many amazing trends for spring, the hunt for the perfect spring cocktail look began.

Of course, when we think of cocktail dress we think “little black dress” or LBD.  I am in love with the bright colors spring collections have been featuring so incorporating those by using accessories is a must, in my opinion.  These turquoise suede pumps from Steve Madden are right up my alley and I love them paired with gold jewelry!

Little Black Dress Evening Look
But cocktail dresses don’t just have to be black and sexy.  Add some whimsy and softness by embracing this season’s pastel trend in a sheer fabric.  It looks perfectly sweet and spicy when paired with sky-high, bright orange cork sandals and matching clutch.
Whimsical Cocktail Dress Day-to-Night
Eye-catching accessories are a fun way to bring a pop of color into an outfit but what about making the dress the main event?  I love this magenta dress from Mystic when kept simple and chic with solid black belt, platforms and clutch.

The options are endless this season: brights and pastels; solids and florals; classic little black dresses and whimsical, vintage-inspired frocks.  As long as it suits your own personal style and makes you feel fun, flirty and confident you can’t go wrong in choosing from this spring’s cocktail dresses.
