We moved into our house 3.5 years ago, and have been redoing what we can when we can due to financial constraints. The thing is that I like doing it little by little I get to be a huge part in every detail. It feels like a piece of art. Tweaking it here and there until it’s done.
With $100 I was able to liven up my front yard enough to feel like I made it pretty for the summer.
The first order of business was this tiny ugly tree, that did nothing to the house. We pulled it out and replaced it with 2 Bougainvillea bushes. I wanted to add color to the front yard, and have something that would grow up the wrought iron and cover it’s ugliness.
- (2) 3.25-Gallon Bougainvillea bushes
- (2) Kellogg 3 Cu. Ft. Garden Premium Soil
The other big thing was to paint the wrought iron in front of the front door and around the retaining wall. I chose the color that we eventually intend to use as the trim color when we finally paint the house. The transformation from just a coat of paint always astounds me.
- Zinnser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer for all surfaces
- (2) Valspar exterior paint in Tannin
We added some impatiens and solar lights to the walkway for the summer lift my front yard definitely needed.
Supplies:
- used same soil as for the Bougainvillea bush
- (2) 1.5 Gallon New Guinea Impatiens
- Jobe’s 50′ x 3′ Landscape Fabric
- Jobe’s 75-Pack 3-1/2″ Steel Landscape Fabric Pins
- Outdoor Solar Lights (they were on sale buy 1 get 1 free)

I love a well manicured lawn in the summer with lots of blooming flowers and schrubs. I plan to spend a lot of time in the yard this summer. Love spending time outdoors during the summer months.

We have two rock areas in our front yard. One has a wooden fence which needs replacing. Then, some of our bushes have to go and be replaced. Plus, we need new plastic and rocks. We could really use the money towards this much needed project!
I would plant some flowers in my front yard.
I’d like to plant some flowers and get some more rock for my backyard

I’ve been gardening since early spring to have a nice summer garden.
I am going to work on my garden and plant more veggies.
I live in an apartment so I can’t do anything to my outdoors, but I would love to give my Dad a Lowe’s GC for Father’s Day. He’s usually up to something in his garden.

I’d probably buy lots of annuals and pots and put them along my sidewalk, then get a bright new welcome mat.
