Some would say that last night was laden with more glitz than any other night of the year. I have to agree that last nights was especially sparkly. I think this year’s Oscars had an unprecedented amount of beads and sequins. I have to say that except for a few I was not loving all of the sparkle.
I can say that I really felt a bit of old school femininity in all the ladies looks last night. A lot of the designers seemed to really take the homage to old Hollywood style to heart.
Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen has basically nailed the coffin on her season of bad dresses. I really feel like the lilac color washed her out, and the keyhole halter neckline did nothing for her.
Kerry Washington in Miu Miu will hit a lot of the best dressed today, but for me I thought the top was just too much. It looked heavy and dated to me.
Kristen Chenowith how I love her so, but her Tony Nard Couture was just too much for little 5′ frame. I thought her hair was too severely pulled back as well. I will say that the dress she wore in her loser number at the very end of the show was gorgeous!
Naomi Watts whom I love so much, and think is gorgeous looked like a robot in her Armani Prive.
Salma Hayek is sexy there’s no doubt about that, but unfortunately last night she looked like she was in a torture chamber created in the 80’s with velvet to add. The dress celebrated her curves, but it just wasn’t a pretty dress, and her hair did not look well done.
Halle Berry simply looked like an old lady in her Versace, there doesn’t need to be much more said about it.
Jane Fonda that terrible terrible bright yellow dress by Versace should never have left the hangar.
Gloria Reuben‘s Oliver Tolentino dress is a gorgeous color, I love the rosettes, but for some reason all put together the dress was too much. Despite that I loved Gloria’s hair.
Jessica Chastain‘s Armani Prive was a huge improvement over her dress from Golden Globes. The color was absolutely stunning with her skin and hair. The lines of the beading on her dress were so flattering.
Reese Witherspoon channeled the old Hollywood look with her beautiful hair, and modernized it with a gorgeous electric blue colored Louis Vuitton dress.
Jennifer Lawrence deservedly won her Best Actress award in her gorgeous Dior dress. I loved that 2nd tier of the bottom was a slightly darker pink then the rest of the dress. She may have tripped going up the stairs to get her award, but she did not trip up on good style last night.
Sally Fields is one of my all time favorite actresses. Red is my favorite color and Valentino is an amazing designer. Put those all together and you get an amazing look for a woman that continues to show Hollywood what women can do.
Melissa McCarthy may be plus sized and some terrible reviewers focus on her weight these days, however, we cannot look past the fact that she wore a gorgeous flattering David Meister dress, and looked phenomenal.
Charlize Theron is statuesque gorgeous and the epitome of low key chic style. So when she showed up in her Dior dress with a new hair cut she looked even more chic if that’s at all possible.
Anne Hathaway will get a lot of flack for her dress due to the seamstresses doing her NO justice in where the breast lines ended. While many believe they were getting a peak at her nipples it in fact was just unfortunate seaming. Despite that her Prada dress was gorgeous, simple and stunning in the back. The Tiffany & Co. necklace only made this look so much more amazing.
Sandra Bullock never fails to embody true style, and her Elie Saab dress was nothing short on that. The scalloped beading was just the beginning of this stunner. The fact that you got a peak at her legs through the lace only add to the demure elegance this dress exudes.
Adele‘s Jenny Packham dress was the perfect dress for this curvacious singer. She obviously takes her looks seriously and she did herself justice in this beaded stunner.
Jennifer Aniston is always one of my must sees during award season and her red Valentino dress didn’t disappoint me. Yes, it was simple, but it was simply chic to me.
Stacy Keibler may have George Clooney as her arm candy, but she stood out last night in her Naeem Khan 20’s inspired look. Even her hair was a stunning match to the dress.
