Neutral Tones With Blue For Your Home

AutumnRays

Although I have a love for color in the home I do understand that there are people who just can't do it. Neutrals can be done really well with a pop color that is more muted and appealing to those who do not want saturated colors. For color inspiration I thought I'd go with the Autumn Rays palette by Design Seeds. You can see here the different shades of neutral you can incoroprate with just … [Read more...]

$11! Autumn Centerpiece

One of the main reasons I love autumn is because of the vibrant colors that are associated with the season... harvest yellow, orange, and different shades of red. I'm going to show you how to make a really lovely centerpiece to bring some festivity into your home, or to give as a gift.  You will spend a fraction of how much flower arrangements usually cost.  In fact, the cost of the centerpiece … [Read more...]

Apple & Honey Dishes For Rosh Hashanah

I love displaying all of my traditional Jewish holiday foods in beautiful plates and dishes. Since it's Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) it is fitting to find a dish to display the apples and honey, which are served to bring a sweet life in the coming year. When I began my apples and honey dish search I was astounded by the plethora of dishes, some of which are so gorgeous they could be out all … [Read more...]

Raising The Lamp With Books

wpid-1313638366794.jpg

In the boys room I had their table lamp, which stays on all night, on top of an air purifier. The lamp needs to be elevated for the boys to see in their loft beds. I finally broke down last week and threw away the air purifier that was broken. Keeping it to merely be a stand seemed really dumb. I threw it away and quickly remembered why I had it on the broken air purifier in the first place. … [Read more...]

Hiddur Mitzvah – Honoring the Treasures in Your Home

Hiddur Mitzvah - Honoring the Treasures in Your Home

I look around my house on a regular basis and see all of the beautiful heirlooms I have acquired over the years from those who have passed, or passed it on. In Judaism using those long lived items is called hiddur mitzvah. It honors those items as treasures, and elevates them above all of the other items in your home. "Hiddur Mitzvah, is a Jewish idea that  means taking the time and making an … [Read more...]

A redhardwick Masterpiece

redheadhardwick1

I don't think I can properly describe the redhardwick masterpiece on my daughter's wall.  I'm going to try to get close to how fantastic with some pictures. I'll start with a little backstory. Jen the artist behind redhardwick contacted me, and asked me to peruse her flickr photostream to see if there was anything there that I liked. By choosing a few things Jen would be able to get an … [Read more...]

Art Line In The Classroom – Tuesday Tools, Tips & Tricks

DSC00050

J's teacher was looking for an art line to be put up across the classroom so she could clip the kids artwork on it. When she asked for a volunteer to help with putting one up I immediately told her I'd take care of it, and called my mentor/father. At the time she asked she had no clue how to facilitate an art line, so we came up with a plan. I described to him my thoughts, and as usual he made it … [Read more...]
